Il CE690 può trasmettere segnali KVM DVI a distanze assolutamente notevoli: fino a 20 km dalla sorgente. Accetta flussi audio-video da una sorgente locale e serializza i dati da trasmettere su un singolo collegamento ottico a 3,125 Gbps (per risoluzioni fino a 1920 x 1200 a 60 Hz, 24 bit) con una qualità visiva perfetta. Oltre a estendere il controllo di mouse e tastiera, il CE690 trasferisce anche segnali RS-232 (fino a 115 kbps) e segnali USB in entrambe le direzioni, con porte per entrambi gli standard. In questo modo è possibile collegare dispositivi seriali come lettori di codici a barre oppure dispositivi USB come touchscreen, che forniscono l’accesso a un computer connesso alla posizione locale, fino a 20 chilometri di distanza. Il CE690 consente di accedere a un computer sia dalla console locale, sia da quella remota (tastiera USB, monitor e mouse).
