Convert analog to digital AXIS T8640 Ethernet over Coax Adaptor PoE+ is an ideal choice for installation of network cameras where Coax cables are already present and may be very long or inaccessible. AXIS T8640 Ethernet over Coax Adaptor PoE+ enables IP-communication over existing Coax video cabling and converts an analog system to digital. Full-rate network connection AXIS T8640 comprises AXIS T8641 Ethernet over Coax Base Unit PoE+ and AXIS T8642 Ethernet over Coax Device Unit PoE+. It can also be used in those installations that require PoE transmissions over 100 m (328 ft.). A full-rate network connection is delivered over maximum cable ranges of 500m, which far exceed most recommended distances for analog video installation. An optional power supply can be used if PoE is not available, or if higher power for the network camera is needed. Please check the Setup-tab or Range-tab for more information. Easy to install For ease of installation and guaranteed performance, AXIS T8640 features an intuitive LED display, which gives confirmation of network and power status via the cable, with no need to access remote equipment to check connections.

The maximum number of cameras that can be connected in the daisy chain depends on the generated bit rate per camera. The limitations are the 100 Mbit link between camera and media converter switch, and the 1000 Mbit link between the media converter switches. AXIS T8604 does not feature IGMP Snooping. For long distance connections Fiber optic connections are typically used in city surveillance, airports and other long distance installations, where lighting strikes are a threat or great connection distances are required. Surveillance integrators in the field can also connect installation monitors and laptops to AXIS T8604 for camera maintenance and control. Easy conversion and installation The media converter switch is compatible with all Axis network video products. An Axis camera/encoder connects to AXIS T8604 using an Ethernet cable, and through the media converter switch, power and data is provided to the network video product. Two SFP slots give installers the flexibility to connect the cameras cost-effectively to the network over long distances. The RJ-45 connectors can also be used for connection to complementary cameras or temporarily to a laptop to service the system locally.

The NEMA 4X rating protects against windblown dust, salt spray, rain, hose-directed water, and damage from external ice formation. It provides also IK10-rated material for protection against impact and vandalism. The surveillance cabinets support vibration rating 4M4 and 4M3 (AXIS T98A18-VE). Step-by-step installation The modularity of AXIS T98A-VE Surveillance Cabinet Series enables different categories of installers to do their part time separated in order to optimize the workflow. - Firstly, the installer mounts AXIS T98A-VE Mounting Plate with cable protection - Secondly, the certified electrician mounts the mains power parts and cover them with the power cover - Thirdly, the installer can finalize the installation of the low-voltage units Ease of installation AXIS T98A-VE offers several ease of installation features to simplify the work for the installers. With a selection of optional mounting brackets, AXIS T98A-VE Mounting Plate can be installed on a wall, pole or building corner. The polycarbonate cabinet base is extremely lightweight that can be easily carried in one hand. The cabinet door can be left or right hinged, thanks to removable hinge pins. Furthermore, the hinges have a stop that locks the cabinet door at 105° to avoid that the door hits back the installer.
