Easier and faster installations Power over Ethernet (PoE) offers an easy, fast and cost-effective solution for supplying power to network video products without the need to install power outlets and electrical cabling. No need for power outlets With the use of Axis PoE products, Axis network cameras and video encoders can receive both data and power over a single Ethernet cable. Network video products can thus be installed in areas where traditional power cabling and outlets are unavailable or difficult to install. Axis PoE midspans and PoE splitters Axis PoE midspans provide power (max. 15.4 W per port) over Ethernet cables to network video products with built-in Power over Ethernet support. For network video products without built-in PoE support, a PoE splitter must be used to separate power and data coming over the network cable. Axis PoE midspans and PoE splitters are IEEE 802.3af compliant, which ensures compatibility with all Axis products that have built-in support for Power over Ethernet. Note: For network cameras such as PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) and PTZ dome cameras that require higher power than what PoE products can provide, High PoE midspans and splitters are available.

- Convert Ethernet to optical fiber - Compatible with Axis network video products - Support for 10/100 Mbps - Reliable configuration - Two SFP slots and two RJ-45 ports From Ethernet to Optical fiber The media converter switch can be connected in a daisy chain network. The maximum number of cameras that can be connected in the daisy chain depends on the generated bit rate per camera. The limitations are the 100 Mbit link between camera and media converter switch, and the 1000 Mbit link between the media converter switches. AXIS T8604 does not feature IGMP Snooping. For long distance connections Fiber optic connections are typically used in city surveillance, airports and other long distance installations, where lighting strikes are a threat or great connection distances are required. Surveillance integrators in the field can also connect installation monitors and laptops to AXIS T8604 for camera maintenance and control. Easy conversion and installation The media converter switch is compatible with all Axis network video products. An Axis camera/encoder connects to AXIS T8604 using an Ethernet cable, and through the media converter switch, power and data is provided to the network video product. Two SFP slots give installers the flexibility to connect the cameras cost-effectively to the network over long distances. The RJ-45 connectors can also be used for connection to complementary cameras or temporarily to a laptop to service the system locally.
